Background
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 23 years in Austin. I am licensed as an LPC-S (Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Supervisor for Counselors). I enjoy the challenging work of therapy and consultation. I find the process of therapy to be an immensely creative process that can be a dynamic force in people's lives; and I feel honored to be a part of that on-going journey. I have a down-to earth, highly interactive style of communication that is straightforward, warm, compassionate and respectful. Because my background and skill set is varied, I have an integrative counseling approach; therefore your therapy is based on what your needs and goals are when you seek therapy. These goals are co-created.
I have have a background in serving a diverse population of people in a variety of roles and organizations, non-profit and for-profit. I have served in roles such as Child & Family Therapist, Collegiate Therapist, Case Manager, Clinical Director, On-site Consultant & EAP Consultant. To that end, I've been certified as an CEAP (Certified Employee Associate Professional) since 1995 which has has allowed enhanced my work in consultation. Additionally, I have over 10 years teaching experience at St. Edwards University as an Adjunct Instructor.
Practice
My practice is comprised of an approximately equal amount of females and males. People all along the developmental life span are seen--children, adolescents, adults, older adults. When you are ready, please contact me and set up an initial appointment to see if there is a good connection and fit. In therapy, just like other important relationships, you have to find a good match so that you will be able to address the issues that are pertinent.
Insurance & Payments
I file insurance for people, and I do participate in several insurance plans. They include: Value Options, United Behavioral Health, Humana, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas. Many people choose to see their therapists without accessing their mental health insurance. If you are interested in the pros/cons of utilizing your mental health insurance, please talk to me.
Payment is collected at the end of each session. I accept cash, checks and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard ). I can also accept your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Account medical expense credit card, as long as it is one of the aforementioned card types.
